A short update to share that we made it! We’ve cycled from Scotland to New Zealand without getting detained, kidnapped or run over (although the Nepalese drivers did their best)! We arrived in Auckland airport and had the New Zealand bio security team take a huge interest in our camping gear given how far we’ve travelled; they even threatened to quarantine our tent (which isn’t a massive surprise given its smell after eight months on the road).
We are celebrating by cycling 2,500km from Auckland to Bluff, the southern most tip of New Zealand’s South Island. It may sound crazy, but with the pressure off, we can put our feet up (not literally, obviously) and enjoy the amazing scenery New Zealand has to offer.
Thanks for joining us on our journey so far, we’ll post another update when we’ve made it to the bottom of New Zealand in early December - so in about three Prime Ministers’ time then.
See you soon, big love from New Zealand!
Congratulations, Harriet! Amazing news and hope you and Matt enjoy the cycle across New Zealand. Heading off to Wales for RTC '22 soon - what am I going to do without you magically appear to take great pics? You'll be missed on the trip, but maybe see you for RTC '23? :-)
Congratulations on accomplishing your dream! How many of us succeed in completing a dream goal we set for ourselves? Now comes the hard part-where you do even more spectacular things going forward.
